ABOUT ABOUT

Moe Bandy would humbly tell anyone that he would not have the career he’s had if it weren’t for Whitey Shafer. Some of Moe’s noteworthy accomplishments are 10 Number One smashes, 40 Top Ten hits, 66 charted releases, 5 Gold albums, ACM/CMA Duet of the Year — and Moe is quick to share, “Whitey wrote my first 5 hit singles and over the course of my career, I have cut 33 Whitey Shafer songs. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today if Whitey hadn’t come to Music Row.”

Whitey Shafer and childhood hero Lefty Frizzell were not only best friends, they became a co-writing duo to be reckoned with. Together, they penned the country standards “That’s the Way Love Goes,” “I Never Go Around Mirrors,” and Moe’s “Bandy The Rodeo Clown,” among many others.

Shafer went on to write some of the most momentous country songs of the last four decades, including “I Just Started Hatin’ Cheatin’ Songs Today” (Moe Bandy), “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind” (George Strait), “All My Exes Live in Texas” (George Strait), “I Wonder Do You Think of Me” (Keith Whitley), and his tribute to his friend, “Lefty’s Gone” (George Strait). Of late, Shafer has suffered from a lung disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Moe Bandy proudly states, “I’ve had no problem pulling together an impressive lineup for this show.” The already impressive list includes Rhonda Vincent, Mark Wills, Tea Goans, Johnny Lee, Joe Stampley, Becky Hobbs, T. Graham Brown, Gene Watson, Jeannie Seely, David Frizzell, Dallas Frazier, Eddy Raven, John Conlee, Jimmy Fortune, James Carothers, newly signed WMN’s traditionalist William Michael Morgan, Moore & Moore, and the list continues to grow.

Please join us for an amazing evening, benefiting an amazing man.
